The QUIKSILVER PRO PORTUGAL starts today, Tuesday 14th of june, at the mythical point break of Ericeira, Portuguese surf Mecca.
Now classified as an ASP Prime event, with $250,000 prize money, the event is the first top-level contest of the 2011 season on European soil and gathers a large part of the ASP World Tour surfers alongside the national hero Tiago Pires.
13 surfers of the ASP World Tour circuit will compete in the Quiksilver Pro Portugal this year. Among them former world champion CJ Hobgoog (USA), Cory Lopez (USA), Fred Pattachia (Haw), Josh Kerr (Aus), Julian Wilson (Aus) and the top two seeds of the event, : Jeremy FLORES (Fra), world n°11 after his 3rd place in Rio last month and Tiago Pires, current world n°9 on the elite circuit.
